Renowned Czech conductor Jakub Hrůša will return to the stage of the Berlin Philharmonie in March 2025 to present an exceptional selection of compositions together with the orchestra and pianist Seong-Jin Cho. The concerts will take place on March 13, 14, and 15, 2025. This marks Hrůša’s fifth collaboration with this orchestra, which is widely regarded as one of the best in the world.

The concert program includes a suite from Leoš Janáček’s opera Fate and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73, featuring Seong-Jin Cho, the Berlin Philharmonic’s resident artist for the season, as the soloist. The evening will conclude with Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra.

The March 15 concert will be streamed live on the Digital Concert Hall platform. The same program will also be performed at the Easter Festival in Baden-Baden on April 14.

South Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho is one of the most acclaimed virtuosos of today. After winning the 2015 Chopin Competition, he became an exclusive artist for Deutsche Grammophon and regularly performs with the world’s leading orchestras.

Jakub Hrůša, the designated Music Director of the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden, Chief Conductor of the Bamberg Symphony, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Czech Philharmonic, is a regular guest at the Berlin Philharmonie. He made his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2018, performing in the hall that serves as the orchestra’s home with a capacity of over 2,400 seats. His second invitation came in 2019, when he conducted works by Dvořák, Berlioz, Bartók, and Mysterium of Time by Miloslav Kabeláč. In 2021, he led the Berlin Philharmonic in Bruckner’s Romantic Symphony No. 4 and the world premiere of Keyframes for a Hippogriff by Austrian composer Olga Neuwirth. In October 2023, he conducted Dvořák’s Stabat Mater in the same venue.

Following his March concerts with the Berlin Philharmonic, Hrůša has a busy schedule ahead. From March 20 to 22, 2025, he will conduct the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, featuring Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with soloist Simon Trpčeski and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 11 “The Year 1905”. Hrůša returns to Chicago after a previous residency in which he led two consecutive programs over two weeks.

From April 9 to 11, Hrůša will take the podium with another prestigious ensemble—the New York Philharmonic—conducting a program that includes works by Igor Stravinsky and Johannes Brahms, along with the world premiere of Chemiluminescence by contemporary American composer Jessie Montgomery.

Later, Hrůša will return to Prague’s Rudolfinum, where he will lead the Czech Philharmonic in performances of works by Rimsky-Korsakov and Suk from April 30 to May 2, 2025.

These performances reaffirm Hrůša’s status as one of the leading conductors of today and highlight his ongoing successful collaborations with top orchestras worldwide.
